Soo... As you may know, I am pretty into musicals ( it's a lot, I'm into them a lot) and if you witness a Robin musical geek out you might get slightly scared. Anyway, I thought I'd start this thread to recommended shows, talk about shows I love and how different shows have effected me.ย

So, to start off I am going to build on the show I mentioned on this week's show (episode 76) Dear Evan Hansen.
I am planning on seeing the show on an upcoming trip to New York but here is the synopsis I found on Wikipedia:
"The focus of the musical is the teen "Evan Hansen", who becomes involved in a family tragedy of another teen. The musical revolves around "A letter that was never meant to be seen, a lie that was never meant to be told, a life he never dreamed he could have. Evan Hansen is about to get the one thing he's always wanted: a chance to finally fit in." The title character, Evan Hansen, is a high school senior with social anxiety disorder who finds himself amid the turmoil that follows a classmate's death."
I came across this show through YouTube telling me "you may enjoy this video" and I did. I really did. Here is the video.
You may recognise the guy who plays Evan (Ben Platt) as Benji from Pitch Perfect. I think anyone with anxiety can relate to this song.
This then lead me on to find another song in the soundtrack called "You Will Be Found". I don't think I really need to explain it. If you have ever felt alone, down, an outsider, this song might resonate a bit... I cried when I first heard it and have on multiple times since.

I would love to hear your thoughts on Dear Evan Hansen. In my books it's a very modern show with a message that can speak to all of us. I will update if I see the actual show but for now I leave you with these songs. Please check out the whole soundtrack because it's amazing.
Let me know what you think and if you like it I can do more musical features ๐
Okay, I really like musicals... a lot
I was worried I was going to get a "Lifeboat" -From Heathers. Feel from it, but was pleasantly surprised when it turned out not to be completely overwhelming.
It's very sad, and relatable to aces, being the outside ect ect, I would definitely go watch this musical.
Also I think it has really beautiful piano, piano is great.
-Phoenix
Sounds intriguing, and I like the songs. It's been ages since I saw anything on the West End, haven't been much since my usual theatre buddy moved away! Still need to see Kinky Boots and Matilda.
Glad you guys like the songs. Phoenix, I haven't heard of Heather's, I'll look it up. Christina, don't let that stop you, I've seen shows on my own if I can't find anyone to go with ๐.
Yeah, I loved it! It was just so beautifully done, there were some really joyful musical numbers, and the dance sequences were amazing. It was just really enjoyable to watch. I kind of get what you mean about the casting though.
Yea, I loved all the single shot sequences. ๐ I'm a bit of a theatre snob lol, so it bugs me a bit when they cast non singers in musicals lol. (I know I'm picky, but I just can't help it lol)
